The two masted schooner Nora was built in Sheboygan in 1869 by B.B. Lockin and Jacob Nytes. The Nora was originally designed by Captain Gunderson, the first owner, to be fitted out as a propeller but the vessel was sold back to the builders when Gunderson failed to make payments. The sheriff sold the vessel to Locklin and Nytes on June 23, 1869 who fitted her out as a fore and aft schooner. The vessel was rated A1 and had an estimated value of $8,000.

On October 28, 1869 the Nora was run down by the schooner Sweepstakes about 16 miles southeast of Sheboygan. She had been carrying a cargo of stone bound from Sheboygan to Muskegon, Michigan when she went down. The crew was transferred to the Sweepstakes and then to the schooner N.C. Ford which landed in Racine. She sunk in 300 feet of water.
