The wooden scow-schooner Libbie Carter was built in 1882 by J.H. Randall in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The official registry number was 140536.

The Advocate, 1901 December 14,1901: "A.W. Neuman and John Sawdo have been doing quite a lively business with the scow-schooner Libbie Carter since they became the owners several weeks ago. They carry hay and other farm products to west shore points and bring back lumber, etc., for themselves having started a yard at the head of Little Sturgeon. It is proving a good thing for all concerned."
The Libbie Carter went down between 1907 and 1912. Some believe she was abandoned in 1907.

Henry N. Barkhausen (1947) reports the schooner Libbie Carter wrecked off Manitowoc in 1912. However, a brief check of the Door County Advocate for that year yielded no such information. The Libbie Carter is listed in the MV for 1906, but not in the years 1908 or 1910-1912 (1907 was not available). Again, DCA for 1907 did not list the Libbie Carter as wrecked.

The Libbie Carter was offered for sale a few times in the Door County Advocate similar to the following example:
"FOR SALE CHEAP--The scow schooner Libbie Carter after Nov.20,1904. For particulars write to L.S. Brittain Sangatuck, Wis."
