The two masted wooden gas schooner
Glen Cuyler became one of the old-timers on the Lake Michigan . The vessel was built in 1859 at Pultneyville, New York by H. Doviel and in 1863 was valued at $2,000 and rated A2 and by 1874 was valued at $1,000 and rated B2. The
Cuyler survived for 59 years with the assistance of several rebuilds and a gasoline engine to supplement her sails in 1908. She spent her last years carrying cargoes of lumber and hay on Green Bay.
Newspaper accounts report carrying loads of lumber, ties,stone, bricks, iron columns, wheat and even once deer carcasses from Washington Island.

Glen Cuyler was discovered aground twelve miles west of Oswego with no one aboard. Later, the vessel was gotten off with the tug
J.H. Bloore.
1874: Rebuilt with a change of dimensions and tonnage.
1901: Rebuilt with a change of dimensions and tonnage.
Last Document Of Enrollment Surrendered: Milwaukee: April 19, 1918: "Vessel Dismasted and Abandoned".
Final Voyage
The
Glen Cuyler was abandoned in 1918, position unknown.
