The wooden two masted Brigantine
Nebraska was built in 1849 by Hubbel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and launched in March of 1849 in the 2nd ward by the Red Bridge.

Final Voyage
"October 19, 1856. The brig
Nebraska, bound to Chicago with a load of brick, was run into Sunday night by the propeller
Oriental. She had put about at once for this port, and had got well within the bay, when she sunk not far from where the
Sebastopol was wrecked last fall, where she now lies with 5 feet of water above her deck... No lives were lost." Milwaukee Sentinel 10/21/1856
"THE NEBRASKA.-We learn that this vessel, sunk after being run into by the propeller
Oriental, was owned in Chicago, and insured for $4,500 in the North Western Insurance Co. Capt. Jones offers to raise her for $600." Milwaukee Sentinel 10/22/1856.
"The wreck of the
Nebraska, sunk in the bay a week ago, is broken up, and part of the hull and spars have floated into the river." Milwaukee Sentinel 10/25/1856
