Service History

The scow schooner Blue Belle often was used to transport cedar posts and wood in the Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Bailey's Harbor area. Apparently, she had gone ashore on the North reef at Bailey's Harbor and was stripped and abandoned in December of 1869. June of 1870 she was hauled off the reef and towed to Manitowoc and repaired.
Final Voyage

September 4, 1887. The scow Blue Belle bound from Wilts Bay, Michigan to Milwaukee, loaded with a cargo of cedar posts, missed the piers at Sheboygan and ran ashore. She was attempting to make the harbor for shelter from heavy weather which had caused her to start leaking badly. With the help of the crew from the nearby Sheboygan Lifesaving Station, the four crew members and the captain made it to safety. The ship broke up, but surfmen from the lifesaving station managed to save some of the vessels' gear and all of the cargo. The Blue Belle went to pieces on the south side of the breakwater pier.

Last Document of Enrollment was surrendered: Milwaukee: 9/07/1887: "Total Loss".

Wreckage was removed by a government dredge in 1894.
