Service History

The Baltimore was a wooden, sidewheel steamer built for the passenger and package freight business.
Final Voyage

September 17, 1855. The steamer Baltimore, bound for Sault St. Marie, after having turned back, came to anchor in Sheboygan harbor, Wisconsin, during a violent gale where her forward cabin was smashed by a wave and one of her stacks toppled. The Baltimore's anchor cable parted and she struck bottom and then the vessel was driven ashore between the South Pier and Kirkland's pier. The craft eventually went to pieces, broken apart by the wave action.
One account states her remains including her hull, engines, boilers, fixtures and cargo, were purchased by W. King and C, Ramb of Milwaukee and scrapped.
