"Marine. The schr. Appentice Boy, ashore near the Portage (where the Sturgeon Bay ship canal was yet to be built), is a total loss."

"Schooner Apprentice Boy, loaded with lumber, ran ashore fifteen miles north of the Wolf River. Vessel and cargo a total loss."

"She was scuttled to prevent her from pounding on the bottom. Her owners planned to tow her off with a tug boat when they could find one. Within a month the schooner was declared a total loss."

"The Apprentice Boy was likewise reported ashore or sunk in several diffrent places, but in 1910, the Door County Advocate reported that the old vessel was used to fill in "the old Wabash slip" in Chicago."
