Final Voyage

"A dispatch was received from Bailey's Harbor Saturday, by Mr. Parker, stating that the scow Two Katies was waterlogged at that place, with a load of lumber belonging to him, and requesting him to send a vessel immediately down to get the cargo." "A vessel has been dispatched from Racine to receive the lumber cargo of the scow Two Katies..." "Capt. Doad, of the scow Two Katies, now a total loss on the beach at Bailey's Harbor, writes that the disaster was brought about by a collision with the Propeller Waverly off Whitefish Point on Friday morning last. Finding the vessel to be in a sinking condition, she was run into Bailey's Harbor and beached, where the southeast sea of Sunday and Monday completely broke her up. Most of her cargo of hardwood lumber can be saved."
