"The schooner J.Steinhart, bound from Green Bay to Chicago with a cargo of cord-wood, capsized and waterlogged 6 miles north of Milwaukee and 8 miles out in the lake. The vessel righted itself and the crew managed to clamber aboard again after having lashed themselves to the rails and timber head.The Belle City rescued the captain and crew (the cook and mate having already perished)."
