Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse

Attraction
Description
Built in 1918 and standing fifty feet tall, the lighthouse that marks the end of the north breakwater in the port of Manitowoc has retained its fifth-order Fresnel lens, which continues to guide mariners into this historically important port. An active aid to navigation, the interior of the lighthouse is not open to the public, however, you can walk out the north breakwater to the lighthouse. Head out to Maritime Drive and park at the marina parking lot and take the 15-minute walk out to the lighthouse, or view it from the south side of the harbor - just follow the 'car ferry' signs to the SS Badger dock. While you are in the neighborhood, check out the Midwest's largest maritime museum, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, also on Maritime Drive in Manitowoc. The museum recently doubled in size, so if you haven't visited for awhile, be sure to check it out.
