Description
The 6,600-foot beach at Whitefish Dunes is considered by many to be the best in Wisconsin. This Door County park also offers rugged Lake Michigan shoreline and huge protected sand dunes. In winter, it showcases beautiful ice formations with frigid Lake Michigan waves in the background. An observation deck offers views of the park's forests, wetlands, and shoreline. The 863-acre park has features for people with disabilities including an accessible beach grid system and interpretive loop. Whitefish Dunes has 14 miles of hiking trails, of which 11 miles are groomed for winter skiing, as well as a 2.5-mile multi-use winter trail for snowshoers and hikers. The nature center is open year-round with nature exhibits, and the park naturalist offers programs for all ages. Please contact the park office for more information.
