Service History

The brig Algomah foundered south of Racine, Wisconsin in April, 1848 while carrying a load of clay. She was recovered and continued on in service.
On March 6, 1856 the Algomah stranded north of Fox Point while carrying general cargo. She was listed as a total loss, but apparently, she survived because she was again reported as wrecked in 1861.
Around December 1856, the brig Algomah, ran afoul of the schooner Storm King inside the government piers (Milwaukee Harbor), sinking both vessels. Apparently, she was again salvaged since she was noted as awaiting repairs at the Jones Shipyard on 4/23/1857.
Final enrollment: Chicago: 9/4/1862: Total Loss.
Final Voyage

July 25, 1861, the brig Algomah was reported as sunk near Milwaukee and may have been a total loss.
Final enrollment, Chicago: 9/04/1862. It is unclear what the final fate of the Algomah was.
