Final Voyage

"While returning from New London to Oshkosh the steamer Tom Wall was snagged and sunk in 10 feet of water near Northport. Salvage efforts were begun soon after the wreck by a tug sent to the wreck on 8/24/1888 (Oshkosh Northwestern). Unfortunately, all attempts at salvage were futile, and finally, the Tom Wall was simply swung out of the channel, stripped and abandoned."
