The schooner Leo was used to carry various cargos such as sugar beets, cord wood, and posts on Lake Michigan. The schooner spent time on the bottom of the river at Algoma and also near the bridge in Sturgeon Bay. References were made to the schooner being towed as a barge. The Leo had done service as a boarding house for some of the fishermen at Washington Island and at one time sold at a marshall's sale in Milwaukee for $1,575.00.
"The old sunken hull of the wreck Leo has caused some trouble in getting into the Leathem & Smith shipyard dock, and diver Purdy removed it with dynamite Tuesday". Door County Advocate May 23, 1919.
