Final Voyage

In October of 1898 the Alide J. Rodgers ran aground on a reef near the Sturgeon Bay lighthouse and tore a hole in her hull. Captain Frank Conlin and crew escaped to the lighthouse. The wind pushed her off the reef out into the lake and she went to pieces and sank. It is not known if she was at Sherwood Point, Dunlap Reef or the canal.

Another account says she sunk near Old Mission Point not far from Traverse City, Michigan on the same date.
