Service History
The two masted wooden scow schooner
Granville was built in 1853 by E.L. Herrick at Fairport, Ohio. The vessel was valued at $1,600 and rated B2.
1865: B.L. Pennington along with J.H. Palmer purchased the scow
Granville.
1868: Rebuilt, changed from 98 to 74.12 gross tons.
April 1869: The scow
Granville was on the bar at Boed's pier, Lake Michigan, got off with slight damage.
Final Voyage
"Granville (1872)- This scow went ashore near Clay banks and was broken up during a fall storm. Information on this vessel is sparse and no remnants from it have ever been found, nor has the site of its demise ever been pinpointed."
