Final Voyage

"The brig Orleans "went ashore south of the Gov't Pier about 2 p.m. on Sunday. Capt. J. Douglass, Charles Brock, first mate, and a man whose name we could not learn, were drowned in trying to reach shore. A boat from one of the vessels lying near was manned...and the lives of the rest of the crew and those on board, six in number, saved." Milwaukee Sentinel 10/22/1855.

"The brig Orleans, wrecked south of the Government Pier, was an old hulk and so rotten that the sea quickly knocked her to pieces." Milwaukee Sentinel 10/23/1855.
