Service History

The wooden two masted schoner Josephine was built at Fish Creek, Wisconsin by Wyburg in 1864. The official registry number was 12980; The C. Patrick Labadie Collection shows what appears to be the same Josephine with the registry number 75643.
In April 1869 the Josephine collided with an unknown vessel near Milwaukee and was then repaired.
Final Voyage

November 4, 1877: "Capt. Brown's schooner, the Josephine, was wrecked last week on the rocks near Michigan Island (Apostle Islands, Lake Superior). She had a cargo of flour, sugar, and other groceries on board, most of which were saved. The vessel was a total loss." Bayfield County Press 11/14/1877.

No record of any salvage has appeared.
