Service History


The Sidney O. Neff was built as a wooden steamer and was used to carry bulk freight and later to carry logs. Plans are in Historical American Merchant Marine Survey volume 5. Surveyed by WPA in the 1930's.
Final Voyage


In June 1940 the Neff was scuttled in Green Bay off of the Marinette lighthouse.
Today


"Wreck is broken and scattered in 12' of water. Wooden ribs and machinery are extant. The windlass is also extant and lies near a large section of the hull."
