In 1871 (?) the Lewis Day had sustained $375 damages at Death's Door when she flooded after a rock stove a hole in her hull. Last Document Surrendered Chicago,12/30/1881: "Vessel Lost"
Final Voyage

"This large, 3 masted schooner, Lewis Day, owned by her captain and builder, David Clow, hit Plum Island while passing from Chicago to Cedar River. Her rigging and anchors were salvaged almost immediately and within about a month the fall storms had destroyed the hull." After the schooner broke up she was stripped and then burned for the iron.
