Final Voyage

On October 17, 1892, the schooner J.E. Gilmore was caught in shifting winds when passing by Pilot Island in Death's Door and was driven ashore on the island. There appeared to be hope of recovery, so the crew worked on her until October 28th when another storm drove the A.P.Nicols up onto Pilot Island next to the Gilmore. Both vessels were eventually broken up by ice and storms. Last Document Surrendered Cleveland 4/25/1893: "Vessel Lost"
