Final Voyage

"Loss of the Hamburg-This well known boat, which made the first arrival at our levee this season was sunk on Tuesday night in Lake Pepin while going down, about three miles in the lake, by ice. The hull of this boat has long been in an unseaworthy condition. The loss, it is said, is not very great, as there was no freight or valuable property on board. The other particulars of the loss we could not ascertain." La Crosse Independent Republican, 3/31/1858

Raised and renamed the Minnesota. Hill Steamboat File.
