Service History

The stern-wheel steam paddle Evelyn was built in 1883 by McKinzie and Crawford at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The vessel's machinery came from the steamer Brooklyn. The Evelyn was used in the coal trade between Oshkosh and Green Bay on the Fox River.
In 1898, the Evelyn was overhauled and rebuilt and put under command of Captain Mike Golden. Later, she was sold to the Oshkosh Steamboat Company.
Final Voyage

In the fall of 1907 the Evelyn was dismantled and her machinery was removed. The hull was used for a hunting lodge on the marsh at the head of Lake Butte des Morts (part of the Wolf River west of Oshkosh).

One source states that the Evelyn was retired in 1909.
